I am looking for any information regarding my great-grandmother, Myrtle Lela WINCHELL MCQUISTAN, born Dec. 5, 1883. I believe her father was Nirum L. Winchell, who moved his family to Nebraska from Perry County, Indiana between 1884-1893. Myrtle married William McQuistan from Scotland around 1902, they lived in Boyd County, NE, and they had four children - Mildred, Lawrence, Maxine, and Maree. I believe Myrtle died in Bristow, NE, in 1963. I have just begun my research, but I am very eager to make connections with anyone who has information to share.

Jefferson Davis Lee, my great grandfather, lived in Lynch, Nebraska. Born in 1861 in Virginia, J.D. (also known as Jeff) moved from Tripp, S.D. to Lynch in 1891 to become a homesteader. His accomplishments included being editor of the Lynch newspaper, a licensed Presbyterian minister, a Boyd county judge, an auctioneer, and a state senator. Married to Almyrtia Crossmer, he had three children, including Mary Ethel Lee, my grandmother, born January 29, 1889.(She married Cecil Roland Zink). I would appreciate any information about J.D. Lee, especially his parentage.

S. B. (Singleton B.) CAIN
Follow-up to the obituary in the Norfolk Daily News, March 15, 1902 (p. 3) "Death by Shooting" S. B. Cain lives fifty-four hours and succumbs to his wounds.
This article says there was no suicide note. Is there any follow-up to the obit. in the Norfolk Daily News or other publication?

Hi, I'm trying to find out how I can find information on someone who lived in Lynch and probably died there at a very young age. The family lived in Lynch from 1909 to 1911. He was born in 1903 and died before the family left Lynch.
Thanks for any suggestions or names of newspapers where I might get an obit. Unfortunately 1909 to 1911 is a lot of newspapers to search. Anna.

He came to the United States with the George Friedrick Bentz family and settled in 1889 on the state line near Anoka in Boyd County. He married Eva Margolf in Butte. I have his six children Christine, Jacob, Katherina, Carolina, Rudolph and Yolanda. What I'm looking for is Phillip's parents names and additional information on Phillip's children.

Rice R. collins was married in Lynch July 24 1907 to Louisa Barnhouser. Also William D. Collins had a land patent in Boyd Co. in 1913. I had thought they might be brothers.
Any little piece of information to push my research along would be helpful. They may be no relation to my collins family, but need more information to fine out.

I am not positive on my memory here but there was a tornado that passed through the neighborhood of the Thurstenson farm (NW of Section 25 in Ware Twp) in the early 1940's. My memory is faint on that event (I would have been 3 or 4 years old) but the terror of some of the happenings during and after that tornado still hang with me. Leona Bentz, our nanny at the time, quickly pulled us (my younger sister and I) under a bed as the tornado passed over. It did a little damage on our place - I think a small chicken house was damaged along with some other roof problems.
However, the neighbors to the NW - across the intersection at the NW corner of our property took a direct hit. I remember us standing out in front and looking at the house and seeing the second story gone. I could see a double bed still sitting up there with the bed clothes flapping in the breeze and mom explaining about a big piece of 2x4 went through the middle of that bed and how bad it would have been if the boys had been sleeping at that time. I think that was a Guthmiller's house. Would that sound correct? Would it have been Emanuel?
In the 1930 census, Emanuel Guthmiller was listed as head of household in Ware twp, Boyd County, Nebraska. His birthdate was 5/5/1891 and he died in September 1966 in Nebraska. His wife, Johanna Fromm (b. 9/5/1918) is also included in that census. She died 9/1983 in Nebraska. They have a son listed on the 1930 census - Emanuel, Jr. (b. 9/5/1918). He died 1983 in Nebraska.
I would like to make contact with any decendants of that family. Emanuel, Sr. was a brother to a Christina Guthmiller (b. 6/7/1880) who married a John D. Gall who lived on a 160 acre farm a couple miles NE of Fairfax. We have not been able to gain a connection of this Gall to my mother's line that lived in the Star Valley twp East of Fairfax. I am thinking from information I am finding that this John D. Gall could have been a first cousin of my grandfathers. He lived on this farm from 1902 to about 1905 or thereabouts. Then they moved to Dallas, SD area.
While living in the Dallas area, several of John D. Gall's daughters, Lydia and Louise, ended up marrying Faatz men. Lydia to Edward and Louise to Albert. Albert and Louise ended up raising their children in Boyd County around Naper and I think at least one son, Earl still lives near Naper. Albert and Edwards father was Fred Faatz who arrived to a farm near Anoka in 1916 with his wife Elizabeth Esterling and they later moved their family to the Dallas, SD area where they started blending with the Gall family.
The Faatz and the Guthmiller's are lines coming from this family of John Gall/Christina Guthmiller so any contacts I can make into this family would be helpful to me.
