Graduated from Ravenna High School in 1940; 1942, entered nurses training at Columbus Hospital at Loyola University in Chicago as a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps; spent part of her training at Percy Jones Hospital in Battle Creek, Mich., treating troops who were badly wounded in Europe during World War II; after graduation, worked as a nurse in Springfield, Ill., Nebraska, and later in California and Florida; in Florida, she administered care for Frederick Snite Jr., a famous man who was paralyzed from polio and forced to live in an iron lung for years
Suffered poor health all of her life; had major bowel surgery, 1951, that altered her quality of life forever
Worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney as a registered nurse; began work for the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island, 1957; retired 1974 because of her disability; moved to Ravenna in 1977 to care for her aged father
Activities: enjoyed her home, cooking, flowers, decorating and an extensive quilt collection very much; corresponded with her many friends and family for years
