Military: drafted into U.S. Army in 1945; took basic training at Camp Fannin in Tyler, Texas; served in Japan with the 43rd Engineer Construction Battalion
Married: May 23, 1948, to Betty Marshall in Eddyville
After discharge, returned to farm and ranch in the Eddyville and Oconto area for more than 40 years; retired to Kearney due to ill health in 1992
Activities: member of the Eddyville United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, then joined Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney; member of the Eddyville Lions Club and served as a board member, the Eddyville American Legion Post, a past member of the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller School Board, Lexington Co-op Oil Co. Board, Dawson County Extension Board and various church organizations; loved his family, his land and his cattle; enjoyed reading and traveling in his spare time
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ronald and his wife, Judy, of Carmel, Ind., and Lynn and his wife, Justy, of Firth; daughters, Janet Dyer and her husband, Bob, of Wayne and Ann Thober and her husband, Don, of Lincoln; grandchildren, Patrick Hagan of San Francisco, Andrew Hagan of London, Craig Dyer and his wife, Chicky, of Heath, Ohio, Casey Dyer and his wife, Jennifer, of St. Louis, Clint Dyer and his wife, Laura, and Ben Thober and his fiancée, Carrie, all of Omaha, Chris Dyer and his wife, Sarah, Sarah Thober and Ryan Hagan, all of Lincoln, Jody Hanson and her husband, Craig, of Silverdale, Wash., and J.D. Gragg and his wife, Sara, of Lubbock, Texas; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Doran Dyer, Ashley, Sydney and Jackson Dyer, Will Dyer, Ashlyn, Samuel and Emily Hanson, Thomas Dyer and Barrett Gragg; brother, Arlan and his wife, Shirley, of Oconto; sister, Ella Marie Lawson of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews
