Married: Dec. 30, 1951, he married Lois Jean Dingess in Huntington, W.Va.
Was a farmer and manager of Gangwish Farm and Grain, later served as president and CEO of First State Bank of Shelton; served on the Shelton School Board and on several boards of the Nebraska Bankers Association; was active in numerous civic organizations, including the Shelton United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity and the American Cancer Association
After retiring, spent winters in Sun City West, Ariz., was a trustee for Rainbow Acres, an organization for disabled adults, and the Men of the Church group at Arizona's Desert Palm Presbyterian Church; enjoyed golf
