Grew up on the farm; primary chore was milking the cows; lived through the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl and shared many stories of this difficult time; attended Hopewell School north of Kearney; as a teenager, began singing and yodeling and taught herself to play the piano, mouth harp, saxophone and guitar, performed at local radio stations, church gatherings and barn dances under the name of "Gloria, Girl of the Hills." At age 14, left the farm to begin a job at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney; during World War II, Glorene went to Seattle to work on B-17 and B-25 bombers as a riveter and a bucker; after the war, returned to Kearney and worked as a housekeeper
Married: 1948, to Thomas Foster
Worked at Baldwin Filters in the returns department; retired after 35 years
Moved from her home in Kearney to Broken Bow, 2005, resided at Heritage Hall

Spent several years with his father in the management of the Williams Unimart Thrift Center; mostly he worked with state labor and job training service; last worked at Cash-Wa Distributing in Kearney; spent his last years in the Joplin area
Activities: was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a great cook; loved to garden
Survivors include his brothers, Ron Williams and his wife, Carol, of Atwood, Kan., Gregory Williams and his wife, Nancy, of Kearney and Todd Williams and his wife, Tina, of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Jan Williams of San Diego and Suzanne Ward and her husband, William, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 10 nieces and nephews; and five grandnieces and grandnephews
