Whitney Outstanding Service Award from Prairie Plains Resource Institute

After marriage, lived in many Air Corps bases, eventually living in Baltimore, was employed as a punch-card operator with the Social Security Administration; remained in Baltimore for nine months while Dean was assigned to Japan and Korea; joined husband in Korea in 1946, worked for the Civil Intelligence Service for the 1½ years they were in Korea
With Dean, in May 1953, became a commissioned missionary, spent 10 years in northern India; returned to the United States in 1964, settled in Kearney; Dean taught in the educational psychology department at KSC
Activities: leader in the Campfire Girls, faithful member of the choir at First Presbyterian Church in Kearney, also served as an elder and was on a variety of committees in the church; was active in the Faculty Wives group and with foreign student activities; worked in the dry cleaning business, at a doctor's office and as a home-care giver, and sold Avon; enjoyed gardening, walking and playing tennis, and was very creative and artistic

Survivors include his wife; sons, Dick McClemens and his wife, Jeanne, of Kearney and Bob and his wife, Judy, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Elaine Carmody of Lodi, Calif.; grandchildren, Chris McClemens and his wife, Katie, and great-grandson Paul of Kearney, Andy McClemens of David City and Chad McClemens and Missy McClemens, both of Jacksonville; nephew, Mike Carmody and his wife, Gladys, of Odessa; and niece, Patty Kooyman and her husband, Tim, of Lodi
Graduated from Odessa High School in 1941, attended Kearney State College; farmed and ranched north of Odessa
After marriage, continued farming at Odessa; retired and moved to Kearney in 1990
Activities: member of First United Methodist Church, served as a trustee, usher and on many other committees through the years; member of Rob Morris Masonic Lodge 46, Tehama Temple Shrine and Kearney Elks Lodge 984; was a past president of the Farm Bureau; had served on boards for the Odessa Township, Kearney Rural Fire District 1 and the Kearney Co-op; was involved with 4-H and the Buffalo County Fair and also did volunteer work at Good Samaritan Hospital for many years; received the Kearney Hub Freedom Award for Agriculture and the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Award in 1993
