Was educated in Almena, Kan., and graduated from high school there; attended Vocational Tech school in Goodland, Kan., and studied diesel mechanics
Military: U.S. Army in Vietnam
After marriage, lived in Ravenna; was active in the Boy Scouts; enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting
