Activities: member of United Methodist Church, served as youth leader, and was involved in numerous church activities; served as vice president of Kearney Jaycees, chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, secretary/treasurer of Buffalo County Republicans and chairman of the Buffalo County Board of Realtors; initiated the capital fund drive that enabled the Salvation Army to build at its present location; was one of the originators of the Kearney United Way and served as campaign chairman in 1966; served on the Board of Directors of the Kearney Chamber of Commerce and on the Kearney City Planning Commission; obtained his private pilot’s license, served a term as president of the Nebraska Association of Airport Officials; served on state and national committees for the preservation of scheduled air service in rural America, obtained numerous federal and state grants and initiated various capital improvement projects for the modernization of the airport; in 1992, the Kearney Municipal Airport was the first airport to ever be designated as Airport of The Year by the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics

Activities: member of Zion Lutheran Church, Concordia Society, Zion Altar Guild, Zion Senior Citizens and for many years was a member of ThornDiv Extension Club and the Hospital Service League; enjoyed traveling, garden work and playing cards
Was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Jacob Fiedler in June 2004; and sister, Virginia Merchant in 2009
