Began her teaching career at R-5 just outside of Holdrege; later taught grade school at Ravenna Public School, then was a substitute teacher for the Overton School District; moved to Grand Island, 1976, taught for the Grand Island Public School system as an elementary teacher at Shoemaker Elementary School
Activities: was known for taking her students to TCBY for a dish of frozen yogurt for their birthdays; loved teaching and loved her students; celebrated her friends by having a tea party annually; was a prolific reader and was a passionate writer of poetry, several of her works were published by The International Library of Poetry; loved listening to classical music and was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan; enjoyed watching softball tournaments and wrestling tournaments; member of Resurrection Catholic Church, the Nebraska State Education Association and Retired Teachers Association

Poynter Junior High School in Hillsboro, Ore. in which special education students were integrated into the regular classrooms; in Ravenna, worked for several years for the Ravenna cheese company (Mid-American Dairymen.)
Activities: loved all animals of all kinds; was associated with the United Methodist Church in Ravenna, served as an officer of the United Methodist Women and helped serve many funeral lunches with the group; with her husband also delivered meals for the local senior center for many years

Activities: enjoyed volunteering at First United Methodist Church, especially her Women’s Circle, making prayer pockets, folding bulletins and serving at church events; liked baking kolaches and crescent rolls, and sewing; loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by attending their school events, visiting with them and playing cards with them; enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, going to garage sales, getting pedicures, serving meals for friends and family, and shooting guns

Was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kandi Rose Barta; and brother, Rod Marshall
