Following his tenure at First Investment Company; established his own real estate appraisal business, known as Bob Arnold Appraisal & Consulting, Inc.; worked diligently at his business up until the time of his death
Activities: former member of the First Christian Church in Kearney, served as Past President of the board, and was a Trustee and Elder; member of Living Faith Fellowship Church; had leadership roles in many community endeavors; member of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce and Colonels Club, the Kearney Jaycee’s, American Legion Post #52 and the V.F.W. Post #759; was passionate about his family; enjoyed football and golf; had played for the Cornhuskers, was a season ticket holder for 50+ years; also hosted a seasonal football program on KHAS and KHGI TV Stations called “Big Red Predicts”

Was a machinist/welder by trade and was a maintenance manager in several manufacturing plants in the Kansas City area; retired in 2002 for two weeks, then worked the next 10 years for Laidlaw Bus Co. in Overland Park, Kan., driving bus for special needs students and then the next two years for the bus company in Olathe driving bus for special needs students
Activities: had a passion for ham radio, was a member of the Olathe group; looked forward to breakfast every Saturday morning at Perkins; 26-year member of AA; in Wilcox, was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department and a Boy Scout leader; enjoyed taking the 1985 Ford Crown Victoria for day drives, mainly seeing the panhandle of Nebraska

Activities: member of Amherst United Methodist Church, actively served in many capacities; loved spending time with her family and loved playing cards; was a wonderful cook, baker and seamstress; made several wedding dresses and dozens of beautiful quilts for friends and family; in latter years, enjoyed a dish of ice cream in the soda shop at Prairie View; was a great mom, grandma, friend and neighbor, with quick wit, a sense of humor and abiding faith

Activities: member of the Kearney Church Of Christ, Friends Program (similar to Big Brothers and Big Sisters) and the Crisis Team for the Kearney Public Schools; was instrumental in starting the ninth-grade girls basketball program; also enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting and was a train enthusiast; was an avid reader, especially of James Michener novels

Married: Jose H. Sandino; met him in Cali, Colombia; had six children together
Migrated to Long Island, New York, USA, 1970; their oldest son petitioned them and later the rest of the family reunited with them
Worked hard, first at a textile factory in New York; enjoyed the friendship of many friends from different countries; learned how to drive and got her New York Drivers License, so she could go to work and drive to places with her grandchildren and with her group of friends, usually to church and garage sales; learned the English language and became a citizen of United States
Husband suffered a stroke, 1980; Maria cared for him until his death on April 9, 1987 in New York
Moved to Kearney to be near a daughter; lived in Mt. Carmel Home
