After marriage, farmed between Stapleton and Arnold; moved to Kearney in 1956; worked at the Kearney Hub, then worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for 19 years, and retired as the director of maintenance in 1979; then worked as the custodian at First United Methodist Church and owned and managed rental properties in Kearney
Activities: was a great man, father and teacher; active member of First United Methodist Church in Kearney, was part of the Methodist Men and Crusaders Sunday School class; enjoyed camping with his family; was very proud of his family and enjoyed watching them grow; was very intelligent, thoughtful, hardworking and kind; enjoyed putting others before himself

Military: enlisted at age 17 in the U.S. Navy; after 20 years serving under three admirals, attained the rank of E8 as a senior chief petty officer and subsequently retired in 1963
Returned to Nebraska, started and grew two successful businesses, Meyer Electric and Village Cleaners
Married: Marilyn Jean Meyer, on May 2, 1954, together for nearly 50 years, raised a family of nine children; lost Marilyn to Alzheimer’s in 2004
Activities: loved his family with all his heart and was so proud of each and every one of them; was hard-working, loyal, honest, brave and patriotic; was a Mason for over 60 years and a Shriner for over 50 years as well; member of the American Legion, VFW and Lions Club, served as president from 1986-1987

Was an assistant professor at the East Tennessee University Department of Psychology in Johnson City, Tenn.; also served as an adjunct assistant professor of physiology in the Quillen-Disher College of Medicine from 1987-1989; then was an assistant professor of psychology at Northern Arizona University in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, was full professorship in 1998; conducted research and directed masters theses; received numerous awards, most prestigious of all was being named a Fellow in 2013, one of only 100 worldwide and the only one from Arizona in the field of psychological science; retired from NAU after 27 years with the university; at the time of her death, was doing personal research in the area of Lyme disease and how it affects the brain in an effort to find answers for a young grandniece afflicted with chronic Lyme disease

After marriage, lived on a farm in the Westerville community; was devoted to her home and family; taught Sunday school classes, confirmation classes, daily vacation Bible School, played the piano for Sunday School and Church services and was involved with the women’s Bible study, prayer, and quilting groups; moved to Kearney in 1963, worked at Baldwin Manufacturing and her husband entered Kearney State College; moved to Overton, 1967, returned to her first love, her family, her home and her church; later was employed by the Plectron Co. of Overton for a few years; moved to several communities as her husband served as a school administrator; after retiring, returned to their home in Overton to take care for their home, yard, garden and enjoy their grandchildren; suffered a stroke, 2001, was confined to the use of a walker the rest of her life; moved to Kearney in 2002 to help care for their grandchildren; moved their church membership to First Lutheran Church; her health continued to deteriorate
