Activities: was a devoted “Grams” to her three grandchildren; member of the Platte Valley Antique Machinery Association and the Central Nebraska Antique Tractor & Equipment Club; participated in tractor drives across Nebraska and South Dakota; in 2017, was part of the Nebraska Centennial Tractor Drive around the State Capitol building in Lincoln

Suffered a stroke in 1990 at age 63; resided at St. John’s for the past 28 years; loved to spend her time watching Husker football, playing bingo and doing crafts and always enjoyed playing, singing and listening to music; was a member of the Eagles and Legion Auxiliary

Married: Sept. 14, 1991, to Jim Bamford at First Lutheran Church in Kearney
Enjoyed a long and successful career at Cabela’s, held the position of planning and staffing manager
Activities: was a very caring and independent person; enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and attending many sporting events, especially wrestling meets and Husker football games; also loved to travel, shop, plant and tend to flowers; was always an advocate for fighting cancer, participating in cancer-related fundraisers after several friends and family members battled cancer; then over four years ago, Jo was stricken with an aggressive and rare form of breast cancer; put up a courageous fight and never gave up
Survivors include: her husband, Jim Bamford, son, Hunter Bamford, and daughter, Jessica Bamford, all of Kearney; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members

After graduation, worked at Hertzberg Book Bindery as an artist and at Bankers Trust Co. in Des Moines
Married: Oct. 30, 1953, to Lawrence W. Bauer in Des Moines
After marriage, lived in Omaha, worked at Omaha National Bank and at Center Bank; moved to Kearney; was a teacher’s aide at the Kearney High School Alternative Education Class for two years, then worked for Ruter’s Store as an artist for the three stores owned by Ruter’s; retired because of failing health
Activities: member of Kearney Evangelical Free Church, was an active member in small groups and Sunday school class and served as a deaconess; auxiliary member of Gideons International

Activities: member of St. James Catholic Church in Kearney; enjoyed many large family gatherings over the years; gave many crocheted items as gifts; made a comfortable home and enjoyed her many lifetime travels

Activities: active member of the United Methodist Church in Amherst since 1960; assisted with many meals for funerals and other events at the church, was the secretary for the church and Sunday school and addressed newsletters each month for both the Amherst and Miller United Methodist churches; also helped with Bible school in the summer
Married: Edwin “Mike” Bunn on Feb. 14, 1946, in Phillipsburg, Kan.; were married for 66 years
Had no children of their own, but enjoyed their nephews, niece, cousins and neighborhood children immensely; loved to camp and fish and enjoyed their pet dogs
Moved from her home in Amherst to Mother Hull Nursing Home and then Welcov Assisted Living; was like a drop of sunshine to those she met; befriended new people and continued to minister to those she encountered throughout her life; had a great love of family and friends, but her strong faith assured her that a better life was ahead of her

Survivors include: many cousins and beloved friends as well as her husband’s niece and nephews

Had a strong work ethic, often times having more than one job as well as mowing over 40 lawns around the Minden area; moved to Kearney in 2014
Activities: member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden, enjoyed attending First Lutheran Church after moving to Kearney; was a longtime member of the Minden Car Club and enjoyed gardening, working on cars and attending coffee club at McDonald’s; was an avid stock-car racer and greatly enjoyed traveling with Don Smith Jr. to various racing events around the country

Activities: was a baptized and confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst; former member of the Amherst Fire Department; was fun-loving, quick-witted, a jokester and a good friend and neighbor; after retiring, he stayed on the farm and helped whenever he could; enjoyed his daily coffee time at Stockman’s in Amherst
Moved to Welcov Assisted Living in Kearney in July 2015, became a resident of Mother Hull Home in June 2017

After marriage, farmed south of Odessa on a farm that was once a Pony Express station

Returned to the Odessa farm, then moved in March 1961 to the Roth homeplace north of Axtell; lived beside Paul’s parents in a garden level home until his parents moved to Kearney in 1978, at which time Paul and Carol completely remodeled the original house; attended ag school under the auspices of the U.S. government and worked several winters using his skill as a welder at Allmand Bros. of Holdrege and at Axtell Co-op filling station
Activities: enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball with the Emmaus EFC team in the Funk Church Leagues, hunting deer and coyotes with his son and friends, collecting memorial guns, and enjoyed pool games with friends and his son at the Axtell Town Hall in the wintertime; took flying lessons; was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Axtell Post 7935, consolidated into the Heartwell Post 5537 in December 2016; served on the Axtell Honor Guard for Memorial Day services; enjoyed camping, traveling; worked with his son on the farm, enjoyed rebuilding antique Farmall F-20 tractors; member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church of Holdrege, later joining Emmaus Evangelical Free Church of Funk, served 32 years as a deacon, trustee and Sunday school superintendent, was active in church upkeep and also moved pastors to new ministries; transferred membership to Kearney Evangelical Free Church in 1994; moved to Kearney in 2010

Activities: accepted Christ as his savior at an early age; attended New Life Church in Kearney for many years; member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Rotary International, the Cosmos Club and the Full Gospel Businessmen; enjoyed his breakfast and coffee friends, and caring for his cattle on his hobby farm; also developed three subdivisions north of Kearney
Survivors include: his wife, Marcile Woodward of Kearney; son, Joel Woodward of Kearney; daughter, Anita and husband Steve Morse of Omaha; brother, William and wife Carol Woodward of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sister, Jane and husband John Schuster of Kearney; and grandchildren, Trevor Woodward, Hannah Woodward, Meghan Morse and Cassidy Morse
Was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Woodward; and sister, Annabel Tompkin

After marriage, lived in Grand Island, worked at the Nebraska Veterans Home and both obtained their certified nursing assistant degrees; moved to North Platte and worked at Linden Court nursing home; moved to Kearney in November 2017
Keisha was working at Shell Gas Station and Homestead Assisted Living at the time of her death; Ryley lovingly cared for the children at the home day care Ryley and Keisha had just started
Activities: enjoyed the Kearney Chapter of PFLAG-Pride; helping friends and family, and various community events including Girl Scouts; enjoyed spending quality time outdoors with various parties or just a chance gathering
Keisha's survivors include: her parents, Karen and Randy Reinertson of Elwood; sisters, Amanda Perez and her husband, Charles, of Holdrege and Laurie Thomas and her husband, Dre, Kayla Ruiz and her husband, Luis, and Hanna Reinertson, all of Lexington; grandparents, Tom and Betty Brungardt of Garden City, Shirley Thompson of Johnson Lake and Dennis Thompson of Clark, S.D.; uncles, Kevin Brungardt of WaKeeney, Kan., and Karl and Kyle Brungardt of Garden City; and her aunt, Karol Brungardt of Cozad, many cousins, nieces and nephews; Was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Anna Long; great-grandparents, Adam and Anna Brungardt; and her aunt, Carol Ann Brungardt

Was an only child; graduated 1939 from Ord High School, was a vocal and instrumental musician, a member of the undefeated football team, and a track participant and broad jump state champion; attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earned an education degree, played halfback for the Cornhuskers, scoring a touchdown in the 1941 Rose Bowl, and was a track competitor; member of Innocents Society and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity; graduated 1943
Military: U.S. Navy; naval lieutenant, commanding regiments of officer candidates at Columbia University
Returned to UNL, obtained a master’s degree
Married: Verlene Witham of Agra, Kan., in a 1943 ceremony at Riverside Church in New York City
After marriage, taught and coached at Alliance and Grand Island high schools; moved to Kearney, 1955, was a Kearney State College football coach and assisted the track coach and athletic director; was an associate professor of physical education and served as athletic director for 17 years; retired in 1987
Activities: enjoyed traveling throughout the country during their retirement; loved to fish and hunt and was an active gardener; built their cabin at Harlan County Reservoir; in Kearney, served many years with the American Red Cross and held memberships in Golden K Kiwanis, Elks Lodge 984, American Legion, Athletics Associates, Loper Athletic Club and Emeriti Faculty; lifetime member of the United Methodist Church
