Was raised on the family farm near Wilcox along with older brothers David, Stanley and Kenneth; graduated from Wilcox Public School in 1969; attended Kearney State College, member of Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity; graduated in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in biology
Taught high school science in Greeley; then earned certification as a nuclear medicine technologist at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City
Married in 1976 to Ellen Marie Moore; had two children together
Started his career as a nuclear medicine technologist at University of Nebraska Medical Center, then worked at Lutheran Hospital in Grand Island; moved to the family farm in Wilcox in 1981, enjoyed a career as a farmer and also sold Pioneer Seed; retired from Pioneer in 2011, moved to Kearney
Always had a sense of adventure; was diagnosed with stage four neuroendocrine cancer in 1996 and desired even more to make the most of every day; loved to travel at home and abroad; bravely battled neuroendocrine cancer for 26 years, always researching new treatments and clinical trials, and attending neuroendocrine tumor conferences; participated in clinical trials for new treatments; had admiration and gratitude for all of the amazing doctors, nurses, technicians and researchers who supported him, encouraged him and treated him with love and dignity over the past 26 years
Activities: dedicated Nebraska Cornhusker fan, attended football and basketball games; was an avid golfer; enjoyed playing cards with his poker group, snow skiing, farming and taking trips to the beach; cherished his family; member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney; member of the Knights of Columbus; his faith was very important to him, also shared his faith with other cancer warriors in the YMCA's Livestrong program where he was known as "Miracle Dan" for his incredible and valiant cancer journey

Lived in Holdrege for nine years, then settled in Funk for over 40 years; was later employed at Phelps Memorial Health Center, Artistic Labels, Bethphage Mission and the Coffee Cup Café, but her primary role was a homemaker; briefly lived in McCook prior to Lee's retirement, later moved to Cambridge Court in Kearney in 2008 and then to Mount Carmel
Activities: member of Fridhem Lutheran Church, enjoyed preparing and attending Bible lessons; enjoyed crafts, painting, reading, crocheting, cheering on the Huskers, following her grandchildren and extended families' activities, and going for drives with Lee; was very kindhearted

Activities: enjoyed gardening, yardwork, reading and her dogs; member of the St. James Catholic Church and Choir; was also active in Interfaith Caregivers, Meals on Wheels and various other volunteer organizations
