EBBESMEYER, HLAVA, HLAWA posted by Carol Doering Holterhaus on Saturday, April 21, 2001

My great grandmother was Ludmilla HLAVA (HLAWA) but was always called Tillie. Her obituary states that she had a sister in Nebraska and two brothers not heard of for years. She was born in Bohemia in 1857 and married Joseph EBBESMEYER in Fort Madison, Iowa. She died in 1920 and is buried in Fort Madison, Iowa. I am trying to locate any information on her family, and I would appreciate any connection to the Hlava family of Buffalo County, NE. Looking forward to hearing from someone.

ANNABLE, BLOOM, BLUM, GRANT, RILEY posted by Audrey Annable Franklin on Saturday, May 5, 2001

ANNABLE: My late father, Earle William ANNABLE, lived with his family in Ravenna, Garfield Twp, Buffalo Cty from about 1942 until 1957 when they moved to Alliance, NE. I never realized until after he died in 1987 that he was born at Poole Siding in Beaver Twp, Buffalo Cty. He was born April 3, 1913. At that time, his parents (Robert Earle ANNABLE and Beulah GRANT) were living on a "ranch" with William H. ANNABLE and wife, Carrie RILEY and John Alva ANNABLE and wife, Ethel BLUM/BLOOM, and Calvin ANNABLE (not yet married). I know that by late 1915 Robert and Beulah were in Alliance NE. I would dearly love to find out where exactly this "ranch" was. It would expect it was not owned but leased. William remained in farming near Elm Creek but Robert and Calvin went to work for the CB&Q RR and John removed to Idaho. Any information would be much appreciated.

SHOOP, WATSON posted by Bonnie Rogers on Sunday, May 6, 2001

I just recently learned that my g grandfather, Benjamin F. SHOOP, was in Nebraska for a period of time. He was listed as a farmer in Armada in 1890-1891 in the Nebraska State Gazetter, Buffalo County Farmer List. He died in Nebraska and his wife Isabella moved to Washington state sometime after 1911. Isabella's parents were James and Margaret WATSON. I don't know if they moved to Nebraska with Benjamin and Isabella or not. Would appreciate any information on any of these people. HUFF, JOHNSON posted by Jim Ogden on Tuesday, June 19, 2001

I read in Andrea's History of the State of Nebraska, that early settlers of the Wood River area were Joseph E. JOHNSON, and Mr. HUFF. I have a book about Joseph E. Johnson that describes visits from Mr. HUFF and Mrs. HUFF and the HUFF brothers in January 1860. I'm trying to find out the first names and other family history about these Huffs. I just discovered this connection, and my wife's mother's maiden name is HUFF and that family lived in Nebraska and Iowa. Thanks for any help
