likely to find the head of household in this list of farmers and ranchers.
Taken from the "Nebraska State Gazetteer and Business Directory"
for that year, the entries are valuable because they pinpoint locations--useful
as a "finding aid" for land records--and are only four years shy of the
missing 1890 census.
In the event that a misprint in the original publication might be
involved, the order was preserved in cases where the entries were not strictly
