KENNICUTT posted by Yvonne Wagner on Sunday, August 11, 2002

Kennicutt - In the 1885 Washington Co., NE census my Great - Great Grandfather David C. Kennicutt is listed as living in Arlington. He was born in NY in 1829 and died in Washington Co., NE in 1902. His wife was Isabell Grover born about 1836 in Ohio. They were married in 1853 in Sandusky Co., Ohio. They had two daughters, Alma Kennicutt Brown and Helen Kennicutt Menking. Also in the 1885 Washington Co., NE census living in Arlington is a William Kennicutt age 53 born in NY married to Jennie age 43 born in Ohio. They have the following children Amy age 18, Alfred age 15, Ernest age 12, Chandler age 9, Mayville age 7, Maude age 5 and Pearley age 11mo. They also have a laborer Roy Leach age 23 born in Ohio. Leach maybe Jennie’s maiden name. Williams’s son Alfred and his family are listed in the DAWSON Co. NE 1900 census living in the Wood River prec. Alfred was born in 1872 in NE and died in 1938. He is buried in Elsie, Perkins Co., NE. Does anyone know if William and David are brothers or maybe cousins? Who were their parents? I would appreciate any information on the Kennicutt family. Thank You

JENSEN, PEDERSEN posted by Dawn Carlile on Tuesday, August 13, 2002

I am searching for information on the Jens Christian Jensen and Kirsten Marie Jakobsen family who arrived in the Dwight area after May 1, 1868.
Jens (J C Jensen) was born 23 Apr 1847 in Denmark and came to America in 1868 and settled near Dwight, Illinois. He had 7 children with his 1st wife, Kirsten Marie Jakobsen, who died 10 Apr 1882 near Dwight. They were: Anne Marie, Jens, Dorthea, Maren, Jacobina Oline, Jacob Ole, and Jensine Kirstina.
Jens had purchased 320 acres of land from the railroad near Cozad in 1881 planning to move there for Kirsten's health. He married his second wife Marie Jensen (Kirsten's half-sister's daughter) on 3 Dec 1882 in a little schoolhouse near Darr. They had 14 children: Sophia Marie, Andreas Johnsen, Anne Elsie, Louis Chrasten, Halane Matilda, Adelaide Karen, Waldemar Frederick, Pauline Femtine, Dagmar, Hjalmar, Helga, Halvor, Uffe Sigued, and Ansgar Skien.
My great grandmother Maren (Minnie) Jensen (4th child of Jens and Kirsten) married Neils Pedersen on 19 Sept 1896 and had 11 children all born in the Cozad & Lexington area.
I have some photographs and will exchange info.
