GOLDEN WEDDING.

Ponca, Neb.—Special: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scheffel, early settlers of northeastern Nebraska and residents of Ponca more than half a century, observed the 50th anniversary of their marriage at their home here.

They were married in Ponca’s first Lutheran church. Both are spry despite their years. Mr. Scheffel was born in Germany in 1852, and when he was 24 years old came to America. He is one of the pioneer tradesmen of Ponca having helped build many of the early stores and houses. He also helped build two grist mills in Ponca. He farmed for a few years.

Mrs. Scheffel was born and raised in Wisconsin. When she was 11 years old her parents came to northeastern Nebraska.
