Elijah Beller was born in Fayette county, Ohio, July 22, 1829, and lived there until he was twenty years of age, then went to Peoria county, Ill., and on March 21, 1850 was married to Mary Vanhorn. In the spring of ’56 they moved to Benton county, Iowa and the fall of ’73 came to Dixon county, Neb. and they have lived here ever since.

When the war of the Rebellion broke out Mr. Beller enlisted in Co. A. 28th Iowa Infantry and served 18 months and came home with health gone and been a sufferer ever since.

He was a good soldier in the army and a soldier of the Cross.

He leaves a wife and seven children, four sons and three daughters: Mrs. John Armstrong of Ponca, Mrs. C. R. Noe of Waterbury, Mrs. Alex Curry of Powder Creek and Will, Sheridan, Robert and Arthur. His wife and children were with him through his last sickness, doing with willing hands and sad but loving hearts, all they could to ease his pain.

He was converted when eleven years old, joined the ME church, of which he was a member at the time of his death. He was a loving husband, a good and kind father and a good neighbor.
