Funeral Services for Octogenarian to Be Wednesday.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Goergen, 80 years old, who died Sunday in her home at Ponca, Neb., will be held at 9 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Ponca Catholic church. Rev. Father Kelly will officiate and burial will be in the South Creek cemetery under the direction of Larkin’s funeral home.
Mrs. Goergen had been a resident of Ponca since coming to the United States from Germany in 1879. Her death was attributed to old age. Born at Beach, Germany, December 25, 1849, Mrs. Goergen was married to Martin Goergen in her native country in 1869. Ten years later they came to the United States.
Survivors include: Five sons, Nicholas and Peter Goergen, of Jackson, Neb.; John, Matt and Will Goergen, of Ponca; a daughter, Mrs. Verner Wikstrom, of Ponca; 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Three children preceded Mrs. Goergen in death, one of whom was Rev. Charles Goergen.
