Obituary.
Miss Carrie Volkmar died at her home near Ponca, Neb. at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon, July 19, 1901, at the age of 23 years, 6 months and 24 days, after an illness of some three months.
She was born at Ponca, Neb., Dec. 24, 1877. She was united with Lutheran church of this place at the age of 15 years, and was an earnest and faithful member to the end.
She was one of Ponca’s promising young people. Her life had been full of hope, nourished by an ardent devotion an ever-loving and ever-helping God and her death comes as a blow to all who knew her. It was a sad though an inevitable event, for it seemed that the Holy One had marked her as his own from the start, and destined her mission here on earth as o’er. The loving parents and many friends will miss her, but each will rejoice to think that she has joined the happy throng where sorrow and suffering are no more.
The funeral services were conducted from the Lutheran church on Sunday morning, July 21, Rev. Sponselleer assisted by Rev. Nitzky, conducting the services. A large concourse of friends attended the ceremony.
