Lois "Elaine" Burk, 81 of Springfield, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 30, 2000, in her home.

She was born Aug. 6, 1918 in Ohiowa to Louis and Lizzie Schroeder Lapcheska. Elaine loved her Lord, her family, and watching her flowers and garden grow.

She was a member of Schweitzer United Methodist Church for over 25 years, Grace Nazarene and Gideon Auxiliary for 30 years

She is survived by her husband, D. J. Burk, of the home; daughter and husband, Nance and Ed Gatewood, Broken Arrow, Okla.; a son and his wife, Larry and Lynn Burk, Springfield, Mo.; sister, Helen Hinrichs, Wahoo; three grandchildren, Jason Gatewood and Brent and Sean Burk; and other relatives and friends.

Services were held Wednesday, May 3, 2000 in Walnut Lawn DeGraffenreid-Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert "Bud" Prentice, the Rev. Bruce McCrite and the Rev. Daniel Arnold officiating.

Burial was at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International.
