Lynn Conrad Johnson was born to Clause Johnson and Emelia Bjorkland Johnson on May 22, 1911, on a farm southwest of Shickley. He passed away Feb 18, 2000 at the Heritage Nursing Home in Geneva, at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 26 days. He was next to the youngest in a family of five.

Lynn had a very good childhood with loving parents. He went to country school near Shickley and graduated from Shickley High School with the Class of 1928. He enjoyed basketball and band in addition to his academic work.

He was married to Dorothy Ketchum on July 30, 1931. They were blessed with the birth of two daughters, Janice and Barbara. He enjoyed several occupations during his lifetime. Following high school graduation he worked on a carpenter crew. Dorothy and Lynn farmed for 10 years in Fillmore County following their marriage. They then moved to Davenport where they owned and operated the International Harvester Implement business. When they moved to Hastings in 1963, he became interested in investment funds and was a sales representative for Waddell, Reed & Company. In 1965, they retired in Shickley.

He was a member of Shickley United Methodist Church, the Davenport Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Easter Star, Methodist Men and the Lion’s Club. His hobbies have been fishing, flying and traveling. Lynn always found time to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent many hours of enjoyment flying his Air Coupe. Throughout his life he was always most cognizant of his Swedish Heritage and enjoyed eating old Swedish foods such as "ostkaka," "lutfisk" and "spritz cookies."

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Reuben Johnson of Shickley and one sister, Ethel Benson of Ong.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy who resides at Heritage in Geneva; daughters, Janice Spurling and husband Larry of Shickley and Barbara Johnson and husband Gayle of Ong; brother, Edwin Johnson and wife Flossie of Shickley; sister Pearle Holsten of North Platte; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Shickley on Monday, February 21, 2000, with Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Stanley Johnson accompanied Jennifer Cohn who sang "In the Garden’ and " Just A Closer Walk With Thee." The congregational hymns were "Precious Lord Take My Hand’ and "Blessed by the Tie that Binds."

Casket bearers were grandsons Brian Wise, Parker Spurling, Steven Johnson, Dennis Lichti, Michael Lichti and Steve Ewalt.

Interment was in the Shickley Public Cemetery with the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Shickley United Methodist Church.
