 Laurine (Ricketts) Madison was born July 26, 1912 at Burr, to George and Alpha MacBeth Ricketts. She passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva on Sept 17, 1995, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 22 days.

As a small child she was baptized at the Burr United Brethren Church. With her family, she moved to Geneva where her father was a brick layer. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1931. During her high school years she studied to prepare herself to be a teacher.

Laurine married Thomas B. Madison May 29, 1931 at Colby, KS. To them one daughter was born. They celebrated their golden aniversary in 1981.

In 1972, her and Tom joined Prince of Peace Lutheran Church where she was a member at the time of her death. She was also a member of the W.E.L.C.A.

Her greatest joy was her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Laurine was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents, George and Alpha Ricketts; brothers, Clayton, Herman and Norman; and sisters, Carmen and Anita.

She is survived by her daughter Geraldine Rippe of Bruning; grandchildren, Russell and wife, Susan of Lincoln, Rochelle of West Hartford, CT, Jayne Germer of Concordia, Ks and Karen of Plano, TX; two great grandchildren, Noel and Behrendt of Lincoln; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva on Wednesday, Sept. 20, with Pastor Vern Barlow officiating.

Janet Kempf accompanied the congregation who sang "In the Garden" and "Lift High the Cross."

Casket bearers were Ken Barnell, Merrill Barnell, Bernard Bliefernich, Don Madison, Gaylord Madison and Sam Pendleton.

Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery with Farmer & Son Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are directed to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Make a Wish Foundation.
