Margaret M. Renken, 89, of LeMars, Iowa, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.

Margaret Marie Frerichs was born April 13,1910, in Lahoma, Okla., the daughter of O. Martin and Gratje (Eilerts) Frerichs. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Lahoma, Okla.

When Margaret was seven years old, the family moved to Howard, S.D. The family later moved to the Struble, Iowa area. Margaret attended parochial school at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars, and was confirmed in 1924.

On Dec.11, 1935, she married Jurgen B. Renken in Grant Township. The couple farmed in Grant Township until their retirement in 1958 when they moved to Le Mars. Margaret enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidering, and gardening.

She was a member of Faith Circle at Christ Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Velda and her husband, Earl Dean Frieden, of Shickley, Vernice and her husband, Norbert Seebach of Sioux City, and Verona Renken and her fiancee Earl Lubben of LeMars, Iowa; two grandchildren; Conley Frieden and Camella and her husband Mike Walters, all of Shickley; two great-grandchildren, Wade and Whitney Walters; and a sister, Emma Lubben of Le Mars, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jurgen in 1972; and a brother, John Frerichs.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan.10 at Christ Lutheran Church, Grant Township, rural LeMars, Iowa, with the Rev. Peter Boe officiating.

Burial was held in Christ Lutheran Cemetery.

The Mauer-Johnson funeral home in Le Mars, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Conley Freiden, Michael Walters, Alvin Ludwigs, Elmer Renken, Erwin Renken, Gerald Lubben, Robert Lang, and Elmer Maass.

A special thank you for all of your prayers for our family and for the many cards expressing your love and sympathy. Also for the memorials given in memory of my mother, Margaret Renken. Your outpouring love was truly appreciated and will always be remembered.
