Laurine Rust was born Dec. 18, 1926, at Superior to Walter and Audrey Demilt McCutchan. She was the only child born to this union. She died at the Fillmore County Hospital on July 29, 1999, at the age of seventy-two years, seven months and eleven days.
Laurine grew up on a farm north of Nelson. She attended Bethel District No. 27 Country School. Later, her family moved south of Nelson to run a dairy farm. Laurine graduated from Nelson Public School in 1944.
She then began working at the Nelson ASC office.
In 1948 she was married to Don Rust of Nelson. Last year they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. To this union, four children were born; JoDee, Jan, Jeanne and Steve. Laurine was also blessed with ten grandchildren: Brandee, Mike, Lisa, Jamey, Matt, Amanda, C.J., Tiffany, Marcus and Kyle. She took great pride in her family and kept up with all their activities and accomplishments.
Throughout her life, she worked at Hested, Montgomery Ward, along with raising her four children. During the last thirteen years, she sold Avon until the time of her death.
Laurine was a very social person with a great sense of humor. She loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She was a genuinely kind and special woman who would go out of her way to make someone happy. She built up a multitude of friends from many different communities and always stayed in touch with them all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Audrey McCutchan and by her son-in-law Leroy Royal.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Geneva; son Steve and wife Mary of Geneva; daughter, JoDee and husband Paul Mika of Exeter, Jan and husband Kurt Myers of Geneva, and Jeanne Royal of Lincoln; grandchildren; Brandee Mika and fiancee Ryan Norris of Beatrice, Mike Mika of Exeter, Lisa Blake and husband Aaron of Grand Island, Jamey Myers and fiancee Melissa Kamler, Matt Myers of Geneva, Amanda Royal of Lincoln, Christopher (C.J.), Tiffany, Marcus and Kyle Rust all of Geneva.
She will be missed by all of us who loved her and her memory will be in our hearts forever.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31 from the United Methodist Church in Geneva with Rev. Brian Kottas and Rev. Wanda Bennett officiating. Susan Kleinschmidt accompanied C.J. and Tiffany Rust who sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace."
Casket bearers were her ten grandchildren.
Graveside committal services were held at 3:30 p.m., from the Nelson Public Cemetery with Farmer & Son in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are directed to the family.

We have appreciated all of your thoughtfulness and care. Special thanks to Dr. Ashby, Marirose and all of the nurses and hospital personnel for the great care that she received. Also our thanks to the Home Health Crew and to Rev. Brian Kottas and Rev. Wanda Bennett for their support. To our friends and family who have provided us with such wonderful support at this difficult time we extend our heartfelt thank you. Your care and concern is appreciated and may God bless you all.
