Nancy Elizabeth Pickerill
was born in Brown county Ohio, July 18, 1851, and departed this life July 2,
1823, at her home in Geneva, Neb., at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 2
days.
When a small child her
parents moved from Ohio to Elpaso Ill., where she spent her girlhood
life. On December 20, 1866, she was united in marriage to Luther Eugene
Stowell of Elpaso, Ill. They resided at Elpaso until 1877, when they moved to a
homestead five miles south of Geneva where they resided for three years. Then
they came to Geneva, where they spent the rest of their lives.
To this union were born nine
children, of whom four preceded Mrs. Stowell in death. The five living children
are Frances E. Wheeldon of Swanton, Neb., Jessie M. Hollenberger of Benkleman,
Nebr, Myrtle L. Stowell of Lincoln, Nebr., Harry E. and Byron O. Stowell of
Windham, Mont. She is also survived by one brother, Wm. Pickerill of Geneva,
and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Browning of Geneva and Mrs. J.C. Mezger of Bonami
La. The husband preceded her in death nine years.
The funeral service was held
at the home in Geneva at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 4 and was conducted by Rev. R.H.
Thompson. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
