Alta Marie (Bringewatt) Wolfteich was born to Wilhelm Bringewatt and Anna (Frede) Bringewatt on March 17, 1919 near Daykin, and passed away on Jan. 7, 2000, at the Crete Manor, Crete, at the age of 80 years 9 months, and 21 days. She was one of 11 children in the family.

Alta was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church near Tobias on April 16 1919. She was also confirmed there on March 20, 1932. Alta was united in marriage to Rudolph Wolfteich on Nov.11, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran; Church at Bruning. To this union was born one daughter, Lillian.

Alta lived with her husband on farms near Daykin and Bruning. She was a faithful caretaker to her husband, Rudy. After his death she lived at the Kenninston Apartments and the Crete Manor until her death. She was member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning.

Alta was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, Ben, Willis and Leo and sisters, Minnie, Emilie, and Wilhelmine.

She is survived by her daughter, Lillian and her husband, Todd Grandlund; two grandsons, Nathan and Lucas Grandlund; brother, Frank; and sisters, Ida Bringewatt and Leta Garner.

Funeral services were conducted from Farmer & Son Funeral Home, Geneva, on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, with Rev. Vern Barlow officiating.

Susan Kleinschmidt accompanied Delwin V. Myers who sang "He Leadeth Me" and "Softly And Tenderly."

Interment was in the Ohiowa Public Cemetery with Farmer & Son Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials are directed to the Activities Department at the Crete Manor.
