Death of Joe Bauer

Joe Bauer was born in Baden, Germany, March 21, 1862. He died at his son George’s home January 13, 1938, in Anoka, Minn., aged 75 years,10 months, and 23 days.

He came to America as a small boy, settling in New York. Later he homesteaded in Kansas and Nebraska. He resided some time on a farm near Grafton, later moving to Minnesota, where he lived until his death.

Mr. Bauer was married to Anna Smith, who preceded him in death in 1909.

He leaves six children, Elizabeth Kelly of Osseo, Minn., Frank Bauer of Gracevelle, Minn., Marie Berg and George Bauer of Anoka, Minn., and Fred Bauer of Edmore, N.D., and five grandchildren, besides a host of loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at St. Stephen’s church, January 14, at 10 o’clock at Anoka, Minn., with Father D. F MacCarthy officiating.

The body then being shipped to Grafton and interment was beside his wife in the Grafton cemetery Saturday afternoon, January 15, with a short service at the grave conducted by Father A. J. Lutz. Mrs. Kelly, Mrs Berg and Frank and Fred Bauer accompanied their father’s body to Grafton.
