OBITUARY: LANDY JEFFERSON HURST

Landy Jefferson Hurst was born in Boone county
Iowa, November 17, 1857 and died at the home of his sister, Mrs. R. S. Russell,
near Grafton, Nebraska, December 13, 1918; aged sixty-one years and twenty-six
days.
On April 19, 1886, he was united in marriage to
Miss Ella Andrews at Des Moines, Iowa. To this union five children were
born, two of whom preceded the father in death. Those who remain to mourn
his loss are Carl and Clay, who are with the American forces in France and Mrs.
Lela Whitman of Ankeny, Iowa.
Practically all of his life was spent in
Iowa. About one year ago he went to Wyoming in the hope of benefiting his
health. He returned to Nebraska about six weeks ago and since that
time had failed rapidly.
Beside the children mentioned above, he leaves five
sister and five brothers; Mrs. J. Madison of Geneva, Mrs. Lyda Paxton of Burr
Oak, Kansas, Miss May of Geneva, Mrs. T. S. Russell of Grafton, Miss Bessie of
Hastings, John H. and Andrew J. of Greybull, Wyoming; James I. of Alma,
Nebraska; Joseph E. of Sheridan, Wyoming; and W. H. of Fairmont.
Funeral services were held from the home of Mrs.
Russell Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Unger of the Grafton
Congregational church and interment was made in the Fairmont cemetery.
