John Toren was born in Sweden July 18, 1848.  He died at his home in Stanton township, Fillmore county, Nebraska, at 3:30 a.m. December 9, 1927, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 21 days.

Mr. Toren came to America in 1870 and lived for several years in Illinois.  At Moline, Ill., October 23, 1874, he was married to Ida Skoglund, to which union four children were born.  He came to Nebraska forty-three years ago, settling and making his home on a farm near Geneva, where he lived a respected member of the community doing his part in the development and prosperity of this part of the state.  He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Geneva.  His passing brought for his relief from pain and affliction and was a peaceful closing of a life well lived in the full measure of days.  He leaves to morn his passing his wife, his three sons, Oscar, Albin, and Victor, and one daughter, Mrs. Alma Weston of Sidney, Nebr.  The community will join with these in the loss by the spirit of sympathy and friendship.

The funeral was held at the family home at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 11, Rev. H.C. Capsey officiating.  Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
