Mrs. Engeline Weerts was born in Eakles, Germany, September 21, 1852. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Rakestraw, in Strang, Neb., April 6, 1937 at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 16 days.
She was married to John Weerts May 25, 1870. He preceded her in death July 28, 1922. To this union were born ten children, six of
whom, Hannah, John, Adeline, Engeline, Helena and Gerhard preceded her to that
home where parting is no more. She
united with the Episcopal, German Lutheran church in early childhood and has
ever since lived up to her belief and teaching of her master.
She leaves to mourn her passing four children, Mrs.
William Dunker and Mrs. J. E. Rakestraw of Strang, Mrs. William Labart of
Bertrand and George Weerts of Denver, Col., a number of grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, also a host of friends.
Funereal services were held Thursday, April 8, at the
United Brethren church at 2 p. m. with Rev. S. A. Jacobson in charge. She was laid to rest in the Harmony cemetery
beside her husband.
Grandma always had a smile and a word of cheer for
everyone she met. She will be greatly
missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Howard Brewer and daughters Mildred and Thelma, of Lincoln, Mrs. Louisa
Taylor and daughter Ruby of Geneva, Mrs. H. O. Butler of Geneva, Henry Kreiner,
son Carl and daughters June and Ruth of Lincoln, Mr. And Mrs. Ed Taylor of
Exeter, Mr. And Mrs. William Labart of Bertrand, Lula May and Raymond Coon of
Geneva, Mr. And Mrs. Chick Elson of Wymore, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Green and Joy
Dunker of York, Neb.
