MRS. JOHN NELSON DIES AT HER HOME

Hannah Christine Skoglund was born in Sweden August 31, 1860.  She departed this life January 7, 1940, aged 79 years, 4 months and 7 days.  She came with her people to America when nine years of age and lived for some time at Moline, Ill., where she was confirmed in the faith of Christ through the Lutheran church and lived a fruitful Christian life all these years.  She came to Fillmore county in March 1884, and was married to John Nelson December 19, 1885.  They made their home on the farm in the Chelsea community for twenty-six years and have been in town for twenty-eight years.

To this union were born three daughters and two sons.  The younger son Bert passed away just twelve years ago.  Those remaining are Mrs. Eda Anderson, Mae at home and Lilly Franzen of Geneva and Elmer of Humboldt.  She had five grandchildren.  Her husband is left and is lonely after these fifty-four years of married life.  Mr. and Mrs. Nelson were charter members of the Chelsea church, as well as the United Brethren church in town.  Mrs. Nelson was an earnest worker, having served as president of the aid a part of the time when the church was being built and there were few to help.  Hers was a radiant cheerful religion.  She was regular in her attendance until a few months ago when she became too feeble.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. yesterday at the United Brethren church, Rev. H.A. Dierdorff officiating. 

 

Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.

      which never can be filled.

      The boon his love hath given
