Location:

The Ohiowa Public Cemetery was first established in 1889 by C.A. Fowler, E.D. Babcock, Austin Adams, R.L. Clemons and others. The cemetery is located just north and a little east of Ohiowa on Highway 74. It is in the SW corner of Section 4 of Franklin Township (TWP 5), North Rage I West of the 6th Principal Meridian in Fillmore County, NE.

In the first days of the cemetery, there was no one officially in charge of maintaining it. Most of the care was done by Mr. E. W. McFarland. Then in 1900 it was brought before the Ohiowa village board to have Ohiowa take over the cemetery. They accepted this proposal and the cemetery then became city property.
