FATHER'S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH: Edward SHOEFSTALL b. 1832, d. 22 Nov 1869 Tipton, Edar Co., Iowa. Married 1854 Rosannah MARKLE in Pennsylvania. Their children Joseph Andrew SHOEFSTALL, MARY SHOEFSTALL SUTPHIN, Katie SHOEFSTALL CURTIS, Albert SHOEFSTALL, John Frank SHOEFSTALL, Edward SHOEFSTALL.
MOTHER'S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH: Rosannah MARKLE
NOTES: Joseph was an implement dealer and served the county one term as sheriff. It was said he changed the spelling of the name from SHOEFSTALL to SHOESTALL as people kept leaving the "F" out of his name. At the age of 10 his father died and he went to York County, NE where he lived until 1886. He married Eliza R. McARTHUR 8 May 1886 and their honeymoon was taken in a prarie schooner that took them to their homestead southwest of Elwood (Gosper Co., NE) where they lived until 1894. They then moved to farm southeast of Elwood, and then, in the city of Elwood. He is buried in the Elwood Cemetery (1B OLD).

MOTHER'S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH: Charlotte Amelia MASON b. 9 Oct 1842 in Strykersville, Wyoming Co, NE d. 22 Apr 1914 in York, NE. 2nd marriage - William Henry COLEMAN b 2 May 1844 PA, d. 22 July 1941, York, NE
NOTES: Eliza had a brother, John W. McARTHUR who worked on a mail car on a passenger train, and a half sister, Edith COLEMAN JONES. Eliza died of cancer of the thyroid at age 56 in a hospital in Omaha, NE. She is buried in the Elwood Cemetery (B1-OLD).
