NOTE: Because of the declining number of rural students, District 54 officers in 1944 suspended classes, contracting to send their students to the Elwood Public Schools (District #1). Classes were resumed in the 1950s, but the school house no longer exists. |

School Censuses: The information provided on these censuses varied from year-to-year, as well as from one enumerator to another. The names of all "children" 5 to 21 years of age were required. It was recommended that names of those under 5 be provided, but not required. Few younger children are given. Later forms requested birth dates as well as ages.
