Paul O. Dahlstedt

P. O. DAHLSTEDT DIES NOV. 27, FUNERAL FRIDAY

Paul O. DAHLSTEDT, 80 a former resident of Marquette and Aurora, died early Tuesday morning, Nov. 27 in the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. He had been in failing health for several months. Funeral services for Mr. DAHLSTEDT will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. The Rev. August MOMMENS, chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Lester S. HARTER Post 42 of the American Legion. Mr. DAHLSTEDT was born April 9, 1893 in Chapman. He was the son of Charles and Elnora DAHLSTEDT. He served in the United States Army from 1914 to 1920. He returned to the Chapman area where he farmed for 21 years. On October 5, 1920, he was married to Ida NELSON in Grand Island. They made their home on a farm near Chapman. In 1933, they moved to Marquette where he operated an oil business. In 1941, they moved to Texas where they operated a motel. In 1948 they moved to Clarks and in 1950 they came to Aurora where they operated a motel for six years. From 1956 to 1959, they resided in Fairmont and in 1959 they retired and moved to Grand Island where they had since resided. In 1972 they entered the Nebraska Veterans Home. Mr. DAHLSTEDT is survived by his widow, Ida of Grand Island, a son, Robert of Mesa, Ariz., a brother, Leon DAHLSTEDT of Silver Spring, Md.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Higby Mortuary in Aurora from 7 to 9 Thursday evening.

Dorsey Delmont

DORSEY DELMONT SUCCUMBS HERE

Dorsey B. Delmont, 73, a veteran of World War I, died Saturday morning in a local hospital. He had been critically ill for the last six days. Mr. Delmont lived at the Soldiers and Sailors Home. He was born Nov. 19, 1889, at Beemer to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Delmont. When he was a young man, he went to Pender and engaged in carpentering until eh enlisted in the Army in World Wr I. Honorably discharged, he returned to Pender to his trade. He came to the Soldiers and Sailors Home March 18, 1960. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Charles Sass of Omaha. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of the Soldiers and Sailors Home. The Rev. Sam Becker, chaplain at the Home, will conduct the service. Burial is to be in the Soldiers Home Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

SERVICES HELD FOR ERNEST DOAN

Funeral services for Ernest R. Dean [sic], a retired carpenter and builer, were held Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Bowling, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducting the service. Willis Stull sang and Mrs. Donald Star was the organist. Pallbearers were Richard Erikson, Phillip Douse, Glenn Muirhead, Lyman Campbell, Glenn Bowers and Charles New. Burial was in Grand Island Cemetery. Frank Dobberstein

Frank Dobberstein, residing at 121 East Tenth street, passed away at his home about 1:30 a. m. Monday after an illness of about two years, death resulting from tuberculosis. Mr. Dobberstein was born in Wisconsin in 1868 and was 52 years, six months, and twenty five days old at the time of his demise. Besides his bereaved wife he is survived by four children, a brother, who resides in Denver and other relatives. Definite arrangements for the funeral have not been made pending word from the brother in Denver.

Ferdinand Dibbern

Las Vegas, Nev. -- Ferdinand Henry Dibbern, 76, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Grand Island, die Thursday, Feb. 4 (1988). Private services will be Sunday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Palm Funeral Home in Las Vegas. Mr. Dibbern was born Sept. 1, 1911 at Grand Island, the son of Henry and Elise "Lizzie" LehBenk Dibbern. He recieved his education in Grand Island and had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 34 years, retiring due to ill health. Mr. Dibbern married Elvira "Vi" Schuett on Dec 24, 1936 at Central City. They lived in Grand Island for several years before he was transferred to Las Vegas. Survivors include his wife, three daughters, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Joy Dibbern

Joy J. Dibbern, 56, of rural Wood River, died Tuesday, March 27, 1990 at St. Francis Medical Center, after a short illness. Services were Frideay, March 30th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Lavern Larkowski officiated. Burial was in the Berwick Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Joy Dibbern Fund. Mrs. Dibbern was born July 17, 1933, at Grand Island to Edward and Dora Stoltenburg Rathman. She attended Dist. 61 and grandusated from Cairo High School in 1949. She attended Kearney Stste College and recieved a teaching degree. She taught at Dist. 36 in Hall County. On May 27, 1951, she married William Dibbern at Cairo. They lived in Minnesota from 1956-1963, then returned to Nebraska and farmed southeast of Cairo. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Country Cousins Extension Club and she was a 4-H leader for several years. She is survived by her husband, four sons, of Cairo and of rural Grand Island; four daughters, of Barthlessville, OK, Wood River, and of Kearney; 12 grandchildren; one sister and three brother. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Nathan and two granddaughters, Carment Paitz and Alaina Dibbern.

Helen D'Avis

Helen J. D'Avis, 70, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Martin Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Mrs. D'Avis was born on May 24, 1927, at Grand Island to Clarence and Hazel (Scott) Alter. She grew up and attended school in Grand Island in Salt Lake City. She married Ralph D'Avis on Dec. 12, 1965, at Kansas City, Mo. Mr. D'Avis died in August 1981. Shortly after his death, Mrs. D'Avis moved back to Grand Island. She worked as a care technician at the Nebraska Veterans Home until ill health forced her to retire in 1994. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Saddle Club. Survivors include two sons, Jack Perkins of Seattle and Jerry Perkins of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Esther Highland of Grand Island.

Orville Duff

Orville K. Duff, 89, of Community Care of America in Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Community Care. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Roxie Davis will officiate. Masonic rites will be by Ashlar Lodge 33 A.F. & A.M. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Central Nebraska Shrine Club Transportation Fund. Mr. Duff was born on June 9, 1908, in Roca to James and Maude May (Meadvile) Duff. He grew up and began his education in Roca. He moved to Lincoln, where he graduated in 1928. He studied engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for one year. He married Gladys Lancaster on Jan. 24, 1931. The couple lived in Grand Island through most of their marriage. He worked for Krause Roofing for a time. He operated Duff Roofing from 1942 until his retirement in 1974. Mrs. Duff died on Nov. 5, 1985, and Mr. Duff moved to Lincoln in 1986. He married Fern Wood on March 1, 1988. Mrs. Duff died on Oct. 8, 1997. Mr. Duff moved to Grand Island in January 1997. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ashlar Lodge 33 A.F. & A.M., Order of the Eastern Star, Central Nebraska Shrine Club, Tehama Temple and Commercial Travelers. He was a 45-year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 378; a 54-year member of the Elks; a charter member of Midwest Roofing Contractors Association, which he served as president in 1955; and a 17-year director of the National Roofing Contractors Association. Survivors include four sons, Donald Duff of Lincoln, James Duff of Denver and David Duff and Brett Duff, both of Grand Island; one daughter, Karen Duff of Grand Island; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by one son, Orville E. Duff; two daughters, Linda Sue, who died in infancy, and Sandra Lea Johnson; six brothers and two sisters.

Clarence Dennhardt

Clarence Dennhardt, 93, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Jan. 27, I998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River. Memorial services will be at IO a.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler- Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Jocelyn Tupper will officiate. Mr. Dennhardt was cremated. Memorials are suggested to the Central Nebraska Humane Society. Mr. Dennhardt was born on Aug. 1, I904, at Jefferson, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Dennhardt. He grew up and was educated in Winston, Minn., and later moved back to Jefferson. He married Bertha Dennhardt in the 19205. She died in 1936. He farmed on the famin farm and later began working as a carpenter. He married Letha Stogsdill in I938 at Jefferson. The couple lived in the Jefferson area. He later began working for the government in Des Moines, Iowa, and helped build the power plant in Mead. They moved in 1944 to Grand Island, where he worked for Geer Melkus Construction for 14 years. He then worked for Geer Trailer Factory and then John Claussen and Sons for I6 years. He retired in I980. Mrs. Dennhardt died in 1964. Mr. Dennhardt was a member ofthe Carpenters Union of Grand Island. He liked to fish, travel, garden and care for his pets. Survivors include four sons, Don Dennhardt, Loren Dennhardt and Lee Dennhardt, all of Grand Island. and Gary Dennhardt, address unknown; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by one son, Francis: four sisters and one brother.
