MRS. L. P. JONES TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. L. P. Jones, 70, a long time resident of Hordville, died at ten o'clock yesterday morning at a local hospital. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Harry HASSEL, 2311 West Charles street, for the last five years. Josephine BENSON was born in Sweden Sept. 13, 1869, coming to the United Staes in childhood. She married Louis JONES Nov. 4, 1887, at Hordville where they made their home until they came to this city in 1935. Surviving are her husband, six sons, Charles of O'Neill; Reuben, Clarence and Harold at Orion, Ill.; Hilmer at Hordville and Lawrence, this city; four daughters, Mrs. Willard LINDBURG of Polk, Mrs. Reuben GUSTAFSON of Hordville, Mrs. John ERICKSIN of Hampton and Mrs. Harry HASSEL, 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral will be held at Hordville Thursday afternoon with a family service at the Gustafson home at one o'clock and services in the First Baptist church, of which Mrs. JONES was a member, at two o'clock.

Dr. Harold "Hal" Janzen, 78, of 4327 Cambridge Road died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at the St. Francis Skilled Care Center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Kleine Funeral Home, with the Rev. Denton R. Jantzi officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Dr. Janzen was born Sept. 20, 1919, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Rudolph and Florence (Ely) Janzen. As a young child, he moved to Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1938. He graduated from the Findley Engineering College in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the Army Air Corps at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, and he also served in the Korean War for 10 years in the Army Air Corps. He married Darline R. Sprick on May 15, 1970, in Lincoln. He graduated from the University of Nebraska Dental College in 1960 and practiced for 23 years in Grand Island, first at the Hedde Building and later building the dental office at 1909 W. Faidley. He served as a volunteer dentist in Belize, Central America, for a short time. He was an artist and also enjoyed stain glass and jewelry making. He loved to travel and was a member of the Rock and Gem Club, the Masonic Lodge and the Air Stream Camping Group. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Peggy Holtorf of Grand Island; one granddaughter; one brother, Robert Janzen of Kansas City, Mo.; and one sister, Sue Dagby of Springfield, Mo. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walt and Rudy.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Robert Lee Johnson, 70, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died March 4, 1998, after a lengthy illness. Services were on March 7 at Memorial Gardens Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born on Dec. 11, 1927, in Maxwell to N.W. "Swede" and Louella (Steve) Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Grand Island. He served in the Army Air Corps. He married Joan Hardnock in 1950 at Grand Island. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1956. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years until retiring due to ill health. He was a private airplane pilot and enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael, Daniel and David, all of Colorado; a daughter, Judy Oettinger of Colorado; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Steiner of Grand Island.

STROMSBURG -- Ramona V. Johnson, 71, of Stromsburg died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at the York General Hospital. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg. The Rev. Kerry Relihan will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson-Dodds-Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg. Mrs. Johnson was born on Feb. 4, 1926, in Polk County near Osceola to Lawrence and Alice (Gustafson) Swanson. She graduated from Osceola High School in 1943. She married Wilmer Johnson on Jan. 25, 1950, at Lincoln. She was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg and the Free Church Women's Ministries. She was also a member of the You Go, I Go Club. Survivors include her husband; one son, Duane Johnson of Basin City, Wash.; one daughter, DeAnn (Mrs. Dennis) Garbers of Chapman; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Vernon Swanson of Dallas, Eldon Swanson of rural York and Ron Swanson of Salt Lake City.
