CENTRAL CITY -- Elizabeth Alida "Betty" Nelson, 84, of Central City died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Central City. The Rev. Charles Pollard will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the church. Mrs. Nelson was born on March 7, 1913, in Grand island to A. J. and Bertha (Loescher) Niemoth. She attended District East 7 School in Hall County and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1932. She married Ivan Arthur Nelson in 1935, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. They lived and farmed northwest of Central City. She worked at Merrick Manor for 10 years. Mr. Nelson died on Aug. 14, 1987. Mrs. Nelson moved to Central City in November 1988. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Ladies Church Circle and a pitch card club. She enjoyed gardening and baking. Survivors include one son, of Central City; one daughter, of Central City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, of Grand Island and of DeWitt, Mich. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Gus; and three sisters, Laura Lakin, Minnie Rauert and Ella Schmaltz.

MILFORD ‹ Minnie Mae Nash, 98, of Milford, formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Community Care of America in Milford. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Milford United Methodist Church. The Revs. Keith Johnson and Albert Winseman will officiate. Burial will be in Wyuaka Cemetery in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home in Milford. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials have been established with the church or the Milford Volunteer Rescue Unit. Mrs. Nash was born on Oct. 11, 1899, in Grand Island to John and Anna Neubert. She attended Grand Island Public Schools. She moved to Lincoln and worked as a clerk in a music store. She married Will "Ellis" Nash on July 24, 1924, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived in Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff and briefly in California before moving back to Lincoln in 1959. After her husband's death in 1960, she worked part time at Miller & Paine. She moved to Milford in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Mrs. Robert) Stuart of Lincoln and Patricia (Mrs. Roland) Covert of Milford; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Will E. III in 1950; six sisters, two brothers and four stepsisters.

Kenneth E. Niemoth, 61, of Grand Island died Friday, March 6, 1998, at the St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. A family prayer service will be at 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church or donor's choice. Mr. Niemoth was born Jan. 18, 1937, to Fredrich and Sophia (Johnson) Niemoth in Grand Island. He grew up and attended school in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1955. After his graduation, he farmed with his father on the family farm. He married Lois L. Schinkel on June 19, 1966, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The couple lived on the family farm north of Grand Island. Mr. Niemoth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed horses and fishing. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lori (Mrs. Steve) Peters of Wood River and Krisha Niemoth of Grand Island; and one son, Kraig Niemoth of Kearney. He was preceded in death by his parents.

KEARNEY -- Marjorie L. Novotny, 74, of Kearney died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice Program. Mrs. Novotny was born on Jan. 7, 1923, in Julesburg, Colo., to Harry A. and Mae (Burton) Turner. She moved to Kearney at a young age and later graduated from Kearney High School. She married Lloyd Swindell on Dec. 12, 1942, in Phillipsburg, Kan. She worked as a waitress at several Kearney businesses including the Planeview Café and the City Coffee Shop. She later worked at the West Co. in Kearney for 13 years until retiring. She was a member of the Fort Kearny Eagles Auxiliary 2722 in Kearney and the Kearney American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include a son, Michael Swindell of Grand Island; a daughter, Donna Mattke of Atlanta; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Speck of North Platte. Her husband died on Feb. 28, 1997. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and one grandson.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -— Russell Robert Nietfeld, 42, of Springfield, Mo.. died of cancer Wednesday. March 3, 1999, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, Mo. Services will be at a later date at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Mr. Nietfeld was born on Nov. 21, 1956, at Grand Island to Robert and Margaret Nietfeld. He was educated in Grand Island and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Survivors include his parents. of Springfield. Mo.; and a sister, Susan (Mrs. Michael) Dickey of Pensacola. Fla He was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Sue Nietfeld.
