History of the Masonic Building Association
The Masonic bodies soon outgrew the old frame building at North Locust, and a Masonic Building Association was incorportated in February, 1880, with its first meeting at G. H. Thummel's office. All stockholders were members, bub those officers and members who signed the articles of incorporation were G. H. Thummel, president, S. N. Wolbach. secretary, D. H. Vieths, treasurer.

The membership is composed of the three local Masonic bodies each of which has three representatives in the directory. When the present Masonic hall was built the stock through which the finances were raised was subscribed by different members of the bodies and others, and this stock was finally bought up by the different bodies. No actual steps have been taken, but elaborate plans are being laid for a splendid modern home to be built upon the present site just as soon as building conditions become settled enough to warrant such a move.
