In July, 1870, The Platte Valley and the Dirty Stockings teams belonged to organized baseball clubs in Grand Island. At intervals during the many years since then Grand Island has had organized teams. Twice she has had
a league team. About 1910 Grand Island be longed to the ill-fated Nebaska State League. In recent years amateur teams have played together, sometimes in a loosely formed City League.
