Henry Wolfgan of Madison met death in a horrible manner last Mon. He was running a traction steam engine across a small bridge which collapsed. The engine, in falling into the bed of the stream below, pinioned Mr Wolfgan beneath its weight and he was scalded to death by escaping steam. He only lived two hours after he was taken from beneath the engine. His partner, a Mr Miers, extracted him from his terrible position in just a few minutes, but not until the scalding steam had done its work. Charles Anderson, a C&NW brakeman whose home was in Norfolk, and who was a member of the local freight crew, was caught in the frog at the east switch of the Stuart yard, Mon morning about 10, and received injuries from which he died in a couple of hours. The man died, however, before any operation could be performed. He was a man about 30 or 32 years of age, was married and had 3 children.
