Looking for info on anyone with the above surnames. Frank and Kristina CALOUD moved to Howard Co. between 1875-1880 with three sons, Frank, John, and William. They came from Bohemia. Several more children were born to them, including Joseph, Paul, Adolph, Alois, And Kristina. The mother Kristina died between 7/1885 and 1/1886. Frank took a second wife, Josephine HURD. He sold his land and apparently left the county about 7/1888. His son Adolph was raised by a HORKY family whose son, Louis, was nearly the same age as Adolph (b. 1882). All three sons used the spelling CHALOUD; we suspect their teachers encouraged this spelling..

Around 1900 or maybe a little earlier there were two brothers in St. Paul, NE, who had their own business, one a grocery store and the other an implement business. I have many names to these two brothers' families. Frank VAVRA married in St. Paul and had a son there who became a famous painter in Colorado, while a grandson to Frank is a famous photographer. Joseph VAVRA and his family moved back to Minnesota where they had been before coming to Nebraska. Their other brother Matt VAVRA, who I also have maay names and information on, lived and settled in Valley County, NE, north of St. Paul, NE. All three of these brothers came from Driten Budejovice, Bohema, known then as Austria, not Czech. There were 10 siblings all together, many came to Americal except for those few that died early in life and one brother Jan who stayed in Driten. Their parents were Frac Kukla VAVRA and Anna Tranova, remember mother's last name could be spelled many different ways. Around 1760's the Vavra name was changed to Kukla, then later, possibly around 1790's or so, it was changed back to Vavra. I am looking for any family or informatoin that is connected to the VAVRA name along with these names, KUKLA, BRATKE or BRATEK, PASKE, WIPPLINGER, FOX, PENHITER, BRAMER PUTZ, DADEY, BOWLING, CESAK or COSAK?, TROSKA, BACH, and many more not listed.
