Jefferson borders on the State of Kansas, and is the fourth county west of the Missouri. On the north it is bounded by Saline and on the east by Gage County, south by Kansas and west by Thayer County, it contains 576 square miles or 368,640 acres of land, at an average elevation above the level of the sea of 1,200 feet.
