Vernon C. Ekstrom Vernon Clare Ekstrom, 90, of North Platte died Oct. 9, 1997, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 17, 1906, to Walter and Lulu Price Ekstrom at Clyde, Kan. He graduated from Minneapolis (Kan.) High School and then attended two years of college at Concordia, Kan. On Sept. 1, 1956, he married Frances Larson in Julesburg, Colo. Mr. Ekstrom owned and operated an implement dealership for many years in North Platte. Survivors include his wife; a son, James of Englewood, Colo.; a stepson, Donald Larson of Yuma, Ariz.; three sisters, Wilma McGhaey of Colorado, Florence Miller of Parsons, Kan., and Bernetha Beneda of Concordia; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia; his parents; a sister, Esther Ekstrom; and a brother, Virgil. A memorial has been established. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Adams and Swanson Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Paulsen of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
