Victor ‘V.C.’ Howard BROKEN BOW — Victor “V.C.” Howard, 66, died Jan. 28, 1998, at Broken Bow. He was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Milburn to Ira and Emma Tyson Howard. On Aug. 17, 1950, he married Dorothy Fisher at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Anselmo. In 1967, the couple started the V.C. Howard Hay Company. They worked together until 1993, when his wife developed cancer, forcing semi-retirement. Mr. Howard was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow. His hours were spent talking with his many friends and his home was filled with laughter. Survivors include three daughters, Vicki (Paul) Peters of Casper, Wyo., Debra (Bill) Schlund of Tooele, Utah, and Emma (Mark) Whitaker of Loudonville, Ohio; two sons, Brad (Michele) and Brent (Ronda), both of Litchfield; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife; two infant sons; his parents; three sisters; and a brother. Memorials have been established to the Custer County Hospice and to a scholarship fund. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Revs. Bob Rooney and Jan Smutny officiating. Burial will be in the Litchfield Cemetery. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Govier Brothers Mortuary, with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
