Judith D. Johansen COZAD — Judy Johansen, 65, of Cozad died April 17, 1999, at North Platte. She was born Nov. 6, 1933, near Cozad to Walter and Leona Haug Laier. She attended rural Dist. 72 school and graduated in 1950 from Cozad High School. She attended Wesleyan University and later Lincoln General Nursing School, receiving her registered nurse’s degree. She worked and taught nursing in Omaha. On Dec. 20, 1954, she married Keith Hadley Johansen. They moved to Dallas in 1958, where she worked as a nurse for several years. She returned to college, receiving a master’s degree in anthropology, which she taught at Southern Methodist University. Mrs. Johansen lived in New York for a short time prior to returning to Cozad in the early 1980s. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Surviving her is a daughter, Cynthia (Les Chew) Johansen of Los Angeles; a son, Mark (Laurie) of Dallas; her mother of Cozad; a sister, Barbara Laier of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and a grandson, Keith Bradford Johansen. Her father died the following day, April 18, 1999, at Cozad. A memorial has been established. Services for her and her father will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Neben officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Berryman Funeral Home.
