Socorro Luna COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Socorro Luna, brother of Petronilo Luna of North Platte, died Feb. 2, 1998, at his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was 77. He was born in Kaufman, Texas, to Florecio and Julia Favala Luna. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Luna worked for Armour Meat Packing. He was a member of American Legion Post 2, 40 and 8 and the National Bowling Association. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mable; three daughters, Julia James and Janice and Joyce Luna, all of Council Bluffs; three sons, Michael, Alvin and Denis, all of Council Bluffs; a sister, Benita Soto of Winslow; a brother, Petronilo of North Platte; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association. Services were Feb. 5, 1998, at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Ken Gross officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home was in charge.
