F.W. McKnight ATHENS, Ga. — F.W. McKnight, a former pastor of First Baptist Church in Maxwell, died Dec. 7, 1997. He was 79. He was born to Clark Conley and Margaret Davis McKnight at Cathage, Mo. He was a 1948 graduate of Rockmart Bible College in Denver and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Pillsbury Baptist College in Owatonna, Minn., in 1959. Dr. McKnight was the first dean for Bible Baptist College in Denver and served on many college and association boards throughout the years. He was serving as interim pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Athens at the time of his death. He conducted jail ministries in each town where he pastored. Survivors include three daughters, Rachel Chandler of Athens, Connie McCloud of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Carolyn McKnight of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Mary Swihart of Lowrey City, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a niece. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora Stover McKnight, on Dec. 2, 1997, and a daughter, Elnora Ann Jones. Memorials are suggested to the Temple Baptist Church missionary fund. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church with the Revs. Lee Ayers and Bill Ricketts officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
