L. Wilson Spangler CALLAWAY — L. Wilson Spangler, 88, of Callaway died Jan. 5, 1998, at the Callaway District Hospital. He was born May 7, 1909, in Cass County to Charles and Anna Hollenbeck Spangler. In 1918, he moved with his family to the Red Fern Table near Callaway, where he had made his home since. He attended Red Fern School and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1926. On May 26, 1930, he married Clara Miller in Denison, Iowa. They farmed as well as ranched their entire lives. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1974, in Broken Bow. Mr. Spangler was a member of the United Methodist Church in Callaway. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and never missed the kids’ ball games or other Callaway sporting events. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn (Fred) Morrison of O’Neill; three sons, Irvin (Gladys) of Callaway, Allen of Gretna and Dean (Carol) of Oconto; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a grandchild and a great-grandchild. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, the Callaway District Hospital, the Callaway Good Samaritan Nursing Home or to the donor’s choice. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with Rev. Fred Andersen officiating. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery at Callaway. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
