Velda Katherine Young
IMPERIAL — Velda Katherine Young, 84, died April 17, 1999, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte. 
She was born Sept. 16, 1914, at Hayes Center to Daniel Blair and Sophia Elizabeth Fornoff May.
On Sept. 7, 1935, she married Robert P. Young in McCook. They moved to Imperial in 1950.
Mrs. Young was first of all a devoted wife and mother. In 1961, she began working at the Imperial Medical Clinic and retired in 1986 after 25 years. She loved people and always remembered names and faces.
She was a member of the Hayes Center Congregational Church. She was a faithful supporter of the Imperial United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday school.
Surviving her is her husband; a daughter, Dianne (David) McClatchey of Eustis; a son-in-law, Richard Rassfeld of Omaha; five grandchildren; a sister, Freda Leffler-Iles of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Lois May of Hayes Center; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl; a son, Dirk; her parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
Memorials may be given to the Imperial Senior Center or the United Methodist Church in Imperial.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. MT Wednesday in Palisade Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11:30 a.m. MT at the United Methodist Church of Imperial with Pastor Murray Schmechel officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial.
